VPN Solutions
A VPN supplies network connectivity over a possibly long physical distance. In this respect, a VPN is a form of Wide Area Network Connection. VPNs enable file sharing, video conferencing and similar network services. Virtual private networks generally don’t provide any new functionality that isn’t already offered through alternative mechanisms, but a VPN implements those services more efficiently and inexpensively in most cases. A key feature of a VPN is its ability to work over both private networks as well as public networks like the Internet. Using a method called tunneling, a VPN use the same hardware infrastructure as existing Internet or Intranet. Harmonix utilizes VPN technologies which always include various security mechanisms to protect the virtual, private connections. Specifically, a VPN supports at least three different modes of use:
- Internet remote access client connections
- IP Surveillance
- LAN-to-LAN internetworking
- Controlled access within an intranet
In recent years, many organizations have increased the mobility of their workers by allowing more employees to telecommute. Employees also continue to travel and face a growing need to stay connected to their company networks. In these cases, Harmonix has utilized VPN solutions to support remote, protected access to the corporate home offices over the Internet. An Internet VPN solution uses a client/server design. Harmonix has used VPN solutions for Small Office locations, Home Offices, Remote Call Center Agents and for Network Management Purposes.
IP telephony also provides the network infrastructure needed for low-cost, multimedia collaborative applications such as:
- Audio and video conferencing
- White-board applications
- Document sharing
- Distance learning
- Desktop video broadcasts
Internet telephony services can be integrated into an existing network using a gateway server that is transparently positioned between existing voice solutions such as a PBX or key system and the data network running the Internet protocol.
Wireless Enhancements
The explosive growth of wireless networks gives the end-users of mobile devices the “always on” experience. Harmonix Technologies realizes that small, medium and large businesses have various Information Technology (IT) needs with wireless-mobility quickly rising to the top. The demand for ubiquitous access to applications and content while on the move requires trained and certified engineering expertise. Harmonix is equipped to plan, design and implement many variants of secure wireless mobility solutions.
The emergence of (802.11N) is poised to provide larger bandwidth to clients that will be magnitudes greater than the current range of mobile networks like (802.11G) this will enable the end-user to move to a 300 Meg Wireless connection while moving on their Laptop. Harmonix has designed and implemented many Wireless Networks that support both the 802.11N 300 Meg solutions and the older ABG Clients within the same mesh. Harmonix is involved in saving our client on their cell bills through handing off the cell phones to the Wireless LAN and out the PSTN resulting in savings on the coverall cellular bills of up to 40 percent. Harmonix offers a complete range of Wireless LAN products and services. All of our solutions take into account security and the optimum deployment of access points to ensure that your staff can securely access the LAN from wherever they are on site.
